Our History
Planting the seed
CID Bio-Science was established in 1989 with the introduction of our state-of- the-art handheld photosynthesis system. Since then we have expanded to develop 13 instruments to measure plant function, continuously employing new innovations and technologies.
Branching out
Building on an extensive background in the technology sector, in 2007 Leonard Felix purchased CID Bio-Science Inc and has since led product development and strategic direction.
A new place to call home
In 2011, we renovated a historically-landmarked building to be our headquarters in Camas, WA. Our new home not only represents our commitment to our community, but symbolizes our company’s creative philosophy.
Pursuing the innovative path
In 2012, building on 25 years of plant science research experience, we founded Felix Instruments – Applied Food Science to focus on the specific needs of the commercial agriculture industry.
Digging into root imaging
Building on the success of the original In-Situ Root Imager, we developed the Narrow Gauge Root Imager to give even greater spped and freedom to root researchers.
Canopy data through a new lens
In 2018 we released the successor to the original Plant Canopy Imager. Offering a fully self-contained, ergonomic design and advanced image processing capabilities, canopy research is now easier than ever.
A new “Vue”
Replacing the Miniature Leaf Spectrometer, in 2020 we released the SpectraVue Leaf Spectrometer, giving researchers the power to both measure and assess leaf spectral data in a single handheld device.
Committed to creating a better world
