Our CI-110 Plant Canopy Imager has been used for over 15 years for everything from plant ecology and canopy dynamics to agronomy and plant architecture.
The self-leveling fish-eye lens connected to an arm filled with 24 PAR (photosynthetically active radiation) sensors, is used by extending the arm underneath the desired portion of the canopy as displayed on the live-updating tablet computer, and squeezing the button on the handle to take and save a picture.
The straightforward, user-friendly software makes analyzing Leaf Area Index, Sunflecks, and Photosynthetic Active Radiation easier than ever before.

, and are excited to share with you what our end-users think of our instruments. Here is what Aurino Miranda Neto, a researcher at the Universidade Federal de Vicosa, said about our CI-110 Plant Canopy Imager:
"The CI-110 was of great value to us, because it gave us agility in image acquisition of the canopy and effectiveness in determining the canopy openness."
Tips from Tech Support
Question: What software adjustments are necessary before saving a plant canopy image?
Answer: In the CI-110 Plant Canopy Analysis software, it is important to check out the exposure of the camera before saving a canopy image. The exposure of the camera should allow you to clearly see the canopy and sky gaps, without being too bright or too dark. If the image is out of focus, twist the lens of the camera to make it crisp and clear. Finally, verify that the "color control" of the picture is showing a realistic representation of the canopy. Then, capture the image and make sure to hold the camera steady for 1-2 seconds while the image is saved. All other adjustments or edits in the software can be made to the saved image.
